41 - Crew Chief for Lt. Zukowski

Paul Fredericksen: pfredericksen@gmail.com

I was a Thud crew Chief in Korat with the 469th TFS and when the f4s came in was transferred to the 34TFS. We were TDY at Takhli for repairs to our runway and I was the crew chief for Lt. Zukowski. He was driving one of my buddy's thuds because our thud was down for repairs that day.
I was working on an illustration for him. I had just finished putting it on the the side of plane when I was told by my line chief that he was shot down. He was on a agm 12c mission. He was from Chicago Ill and I was from Kenosha Wis. so we became good friends. Chicago is only about 50 miles from Kenosha. Our High school teams competed against each other once. He was only a few years older than I. I tried to contact his family members several times over the years with no success.

40 - Discovering Jack's 34TFS Web Site

Joe Sechler: osprey388@bellsouth.net

Greetings to everyone from the mountains of western North Carolina.

It was with pure delight that I stumbled upon Jack's superb site honoring the 34th TFS. I have been immersed in the civilian world for some 27 years and far, far removed from military contacts other than a few old retired Jarheads in my area from whom I have to occasionally defend my honor and that of the Air Force, all in good jest of course. So, seeing pictures of so many of the guys I flew with in 1968 was a real shot in the arm. It's great to see the 34th alive and kick'en, thanks to the amazing Internet and to Jack's many hours of putting together and maintaining the site.

Obviously, I had no idea that there had been reunions. I've already emailed Ken Mays to put me on the roster for the Fort Worth gathering. Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be there.

Meanwhile, I'm going to start digging into my boxes of old pictures, negatives and slides to see what might be worthy of Jack's site. I hope to find some pictures of some of the "Guys" who have none. We'll see.

All my best to everyone.

Joe,Thanks for the entry and the kind words regarding the site. Folks like you make it fun. Jack

I was searching the internet when I found your site. My father was William A. Thomas and I was pleased to find him recognized on this site. I was only 5 when my father died so if anyone has any stories they would be willing to share my siblings and I would love to hear them. Thanks for creating this site.

36 - Crew Chief F-105D 68-69

Toney Whitehead Msgt USAFR retired: fixit218@aol.com

Great site..Would love to hear from 34th and 44th maintenance troops that were at Korat from mid 68 to 69. I have fond memories of a Sgt. Wendell Johnson from Florida who was one of the craziest guys I ever knew and really made me feel good during the bad times. If anyone knows Wendell's whereabouts please contact me at fixit218@aol.com. I am grateful to have served with such a wonderful bunch of men and regret the loss of those who sacrificed their lives. I was stationed at Korat from May 68 to Jun.69. Sa-Wa-Dee
